Transport for London (TfL) has renewed Global for its metro advertising contract and JCDecaux for its bus shelter advertising contract for a further period of eight years.
Global's contract, the largest in the UK display sector, covers all underground stations, the Skytrain, the Docklands Light Railway (an automated light rail network in east London), the Elizabeth line, tram stops and also Victoria bus station.
The relationship between the two companies is 40 years old. Exterion Media previously handled TfL's 'Underground' contract and was acquired by Global in 2018.
Advertising is a key source of revenue for TfL bringing in more than £150 million for the transport organization in the last financial year.
Stephen Miron, outgoing CEO of Global Group, said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded TfL’s rail advertising contract for a further eight years. This is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious outdoor advertising contracts in the world and the fact that TfL has decided to continue its partnership with us is testament to the quality of the team at Global”.
For its part, JCDecaux retained the second largest bus shelter advertising contract in the world, covering more than 4,700 bus shelters across 33 London boroughs.
Jean-François Decaux, co-chief executive officer of JCDecaux, said:
“The strengthening of this long-term partnership is a recognition of JCDecaux’s expertise and operational capabilities and the successful digitalization of the second largest advertising bus shelter contract in the world.”
“Working with TfL, we have delivered new creative, flexible and data-driven opportunities, including comprehensive programmatic solutions, while improving the passenger experience.”
